It’s been a remarkable four months since I announced my closing. The amount of support I’ve received has been so overwhelming it’s difficult to describe. Literally hundreds of E-mails from around the world expressing sadness and appreciation for the products I sold and how it raised the level of their Miata’s style. It’s truly been a humbling experience. Looking back though all my documents I discovered some astonishing statistics from 14 years of business. For example, 46.5 million visitors, nearly 8 thousand orders filled and shipped to 43 countries. That boggles my mind to think a simple “one marquee” web store could generate that much attention. Another item worth noting is that I only had one deadbeat buyer. That’s a hell of a track record. It also speaks volumes about the Miata community in general.
There’s so many people I want to thank. Particularly Joseph Alfonso and Peter Brusa from R-Speed, Colin Niwa of Amco Japan, Ingo Liediger from IL Motorsport, and of course Taka Kitagawa from KG Works, who took a chance on me so early on my venture. Most importantly, each and every one of my customers over the years who have supported Metro Motorsports and still actually called requesting special orders before I close. There’s also some international interest in purchasing my business, but nothing has developed at this point. For anyone I forgot to mention I apologize for the oversight. I also want to thank all of you who have emptied out my remaining stock in four months. It’s so weird to see my inventory dwindle down to nothing so quickly. I was so incredibly busy filling orders I just finally caught up. As for the rest of the remaining inventory I’m going to donate it to several of the Miata clubs that have supported my efforts over the years. April 30th is the final day of official business, so if you waited for a blow-out deal now’s the time. Simply contact me with your requests and offers.
On another note I didn’t realize how many of you wanted to know about my upcoming motorcycle journey. I’m planning a solo cross-country trip on my BMW motorcycle, which is scheduled for June 16th departure. Hopefully I’ll run into some of you during my travels. I promise to stop and say hello . © 2008 Metro Motorsports
